Homes built to last ...

We currently build somewhere between 150-250 flats and houses a year. We are currently building some luxury flats overlooking Poole harbour for a client from the East End of London. The project is called Alipore and it is unusual because it is totally reinforced concrete. We have also just demolished shops and flats in the middle of a shopping parade in Swanage to make way for us to build new shops with flats above. That is a complicated project because there is a river running underneath the building, and as part of the contract we have to strengthen the culvert it flows through.

One of our recently finished projects on the social housing side is a local library in Boscombe. This was carried out for East Dorset Housing Association and provided 24 flats for rent.

The two sectors – private housing and social housing – are spurred on by different drivers, but our experience of operating in the two has found that they greatly complement one another. The experiences gained in the one can feed into the other. Social housing, for example, is ‘heavily policed’ to enforce higher standards of sustainability and energy efficiency. In that sense, social housing very much leads the way, and it gives us the familiarity and experience to implement them in the private sector. As for operating in a commercial environment, this brings the benefits of operating to commercial constraints, without sacrificing quality.

Whatever your needs – we can meet them.
